1838 Entire Letter Charlestown USA to Greenock, Scotland sent per Steamer Great Western leaving New York 20th April to Bristol with two line BRISTOL / SHIP LETTER in black on obverse, various chargemarks, various filing folds. The Great Western steamer left Bristol on 8th April 1838 arriving in New York on 15th April. This cover was on the first outward bound mail from New York and only took half the time sailing ships would make to cross the Atlantic. Scarce.
